I just want to say that I can relate to almost every single thing this woman says. It’s so easy to forget how powerful words are, how it’s so easy to turn things into “jokes.” “Oh, I wasn’t serious, I was just kidding. Besides, I wasn’t talking about YOU.” When you talk about plus sized people, you ARE talking about me. You can think that you’ve brushed something off, only to realize 10-12 years later that you internalized it and man, has it affected your life. It’s hard to get over. Sometimes I feel that because I am fat, all my good qualities and acheivements don’t matter. Because I am fat, I am not worth anything to society. I also feel that I am not allowed to be pretty, which I think is horse shit. And, like the author, I can hear “that voice” when I get to a certain point with a man. “Why would he like you? He’s too hot for you. He’ll take one look at you nude and run from the room screaming. Why would even want to kiss you, let alone fuck you? Forget it.” 

SHUT THE FUCK UP. You are not the be all and end all, “that voice.” I’m so sick of you, it’s not even funny. I AM pretty. I AM desirable (and not just by creepy fetishists!) I AM worth something to society.
